Q: How do I go about applying?

A: An individual can apply for Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP) status from one of three routes Read the information within Eligibility & Requirements and to access the online application form

Q: What if I am refused?

A: If your application is refused you will be given reasons for the refusal and the opportunity to satisfy the outstanding requirements with one resubmission, after which your fee will be surrendered.

Q: Does my registration expire?

A: No, but registered professionals will be asked every three years to provide an update to their application form to ensure that the information on registered members remains up to date.

Q: What if I have a huge track record but never taken a course?

A: You will need to show evidence of your experience. This proposal will then either be accepted or declined.

Q: Will there be different levels of accreditation?

A: At the present time, no. However, we recognize that different levels of contribution to the profession need to be recognized and these will be developed.

Q: Who will judge whether I qualify?

A: Your application will be judged by a panel of 3 to 5 senior professionals representing the founding associations. This will ensure that your application is considered by experts and that there is a consistency applied to applications around the world.

Q: Will I be able to put letters after my name?

A: Yes, once accepted you will have the official title of Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP).

Q: I am based in a country where the founding associations have no presence—how do I apply?

A: The easiest way is to become a member of one of the founding associations and Then you can choose which of the three registration routes is most appropriate.

Q:I don’t work in the technology transfer team but I am involved in business development to commercialize research—can I become a TT associate.

A: The intention is to include all professionals who are involved in transactions relating to the commercialization of academic research.

Q: What if I discontinue my membership with my association?

A: You will retain your registration however you will be required to pay a small annual fee ($50) to maintain your registration.

Q: What happens if I leave my job?

A: You retain your registration. Registration provides evidence of competence and commitment to the profession, thereby enhancing your resume, opening opportunities for career advancement and increasing job mobility.
